Digital Oral Radiology is one the most important diagnostic tools in our dental program. The majority of your pet's tooth is hidden beneath the gumline. The canine tooth, for example, is about 1/3 crown and 2/3 root. Dental x-ray allows our dental team to better assess your pet's oral structures. We recommend full mouth xrays at the time of your pet's yearly cleaning so that we can detect any early signs of periodontal disease or any other pathology that would potentially need treatment. The earlier it is caught, the better chance we have of treating and ultimately saving the tooth. We can also better assess any missing or fractured teeth.
This premolar appears to be missing. Actually, it is hidden beneath the gumline.
